The Cariris sandals were developed in 1963 in Brazil by INBOP where they were originally manufactured by hand with natural reed based around Japanese Zori sandals. The Cariris flip flops are current darlings of the fashionists, with their flip flop coming in a rainbow of bright rubber colors. Severino Duarte is the founder of INBOP and chose to name his brand name as Cariris, in honor of the Indians that used to live in the region where the factory is located.
